When the City cinema on the Venestraat burned down in 2000, project developer Geste Vastgoed decided to revitalise the area behind it. The plan also included the Pasadena Passage, which dates back to the 1970s. A completely new shopping area was developed, a kind of courtyard where old and new building styles come together. Austere glass façades alternate with copies of historical façades. Among others, there is an imitation of the façade of the Pageshuis from 1610 at Lange Voorhout 6, a copy of the Jugendstil building built by Bosboom in 1898 at Denneweg 56 and replicas of some old façades from Delft. Restaurants and terraces complement the shops.
Art has also been added to embellish the surroundings. In two of the four entrances there are large floral decorations made of metal, two French fountains, a small Buddha, a copy of the Thinker by the famous French sculptor Rodin and some other sculptures by unknown makers.
The name of this shopping area refers to a typical Haags dessert. An egg beaten lightly with sugar and coloured pink by berry juice: Haagsche Bluf.
