Unveiling 'A Coffined Cry Cries Out in the Crowd' by Eylem Aladogan

On Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2025, on The Hague's Spuiplein, the artwork A Coffined Cry Cries Out in the Crowd by artist Eylem Aladogan will be unveiled. The sculpture, commissioned by Stroom The Hague for De Beeldengalerij, depicts existential pain and inner strength.

The unveiling will be accompanied by a special public program starting at 3 p.m., including a reading by writer-philosopher Joke Hermsen. Also special is the performance of a special arrangement of Sepultura's War for Territory, conducted by Boudewijn Ruigrok.

Anyone who would like to sing in the occasional choir is welcome. Please sign up before Sept. 12 at boudewijn@collectiefklapstuk.nl.

With this work, Aladogan joins a series of leading artists who have created work for De Beeldengalerij; the collection of contemporary sculptures that has been on display in downtown The Hague for 35 years. The new artwork was realized with the support of the Municipality of The Hague and the unveiling program in collaboration with Stichting Klapstuk and Stichting Spuiplein.
