Almost ready! Art Haagse Hout now also online

Website 'Buitenkunst Den Haag' another 50 artworks richer
Today, as the eighth and final district, the art from Haagse Hout also went online. That means another 50 artworks. In total there are now 500 descriptions on the website Buitenkunst Den Haag(bkdh.nl). Anyone can find free background information about the art on the street here 24/7. The popular website, which was launched earlier this year, serves as a handy search tool where the information is as accessible as the sculptures themselves.

Highlights Haagse Hout
Haagse Hout has some monumental abstract sculptures that have a great impact on the surroundings. Who does not know it, the bright red sculpture Roadline by André van Lier? Or the sculpture by the internationally renowned French sculptor Jean Arp. His Scrutant l'horizon is built up from natural forms, while in the impressive work Moderne stad (Modern city ) by André Volten and the impressive Monument for Rijkswaterstaat (Public Works and Water Management) by Joop Beljon, everything is taut and straight. The art in The Hague Wood is full of contrasts, as there are also beautiful smaller bronze sculptures with traditional themes and domestic scenes, such as Mother and Child by Rudi Rooijackers, or a mythological story such as Europa on the Bull by Dirk Bus.
Backgrounds to The Hague Outdoor Art
Commissioned by the municipality, Stroom Den Haag has built a website with information about all the artworks that are visible from the public road. This way everyone can look up whose sculpture is nearby, why it stands in that spot and what it means. It also shows whether there are any other sculptures by the same artist in the city. Day trippers and professionals from outside the city can also consult the website. An English version is available especially for foreign tourists and expats. By the end of 2021, photographs and interesting background stories of all 550 outdoor artworks in The Hague will be digitally available.
