On September 10, 2025, his birthday, the bronze statue of comedian Paul van Vliet was unveiled on the Nieuwe Uitleg in the heart of The Hague. Van Vliet was one of Holland's best-known cabaret performers in the 1970s and 1980s and was on stage for decades. Van Vliet, born in The Hague in 1935, died in 2023 at the age of 87 in the Hofstad.
The location of the sculpture, made by Loek Bos, is on the route from theaters PePijn and Diligentia and diagonally across from the house where he lived with his wife Lidewij de Iongh. On the pedestal of the sculpture is the title of Van Vliet's song Er is nog zoveel niet gezegd (There is still so much that has not been said).
The sculpture came about thanks to a private initiative by Sjaak Bral, Yvonne Keuls and Karel de Rooij and several local residents, among others, and was made possible thanks to crowdfunding. The sculpture was donated to the municipality of The Hague.
