Explanation

Friday, Nov. 25, 2011: that afternoon, sculptor Peter van der Meer's Girl disappeared without a trace. Thieves sawed her off her pedestal. Only her feet were left. Despite the fact that a report was immediately made to the police - the usual procedure in cases of theft, including art on the street - no one has seen the sculpture since. No report was received through the Gestolenkunst.nl website either. Shortly after each other, two sculptures by Peter van der Meer were stolen from public spaces in The Hague at the same time. His Clown on Appelstraat in Loosduinen was also the victim of theft. Particularly unfortunate, because many local residents were attached to the works of art.
