Artwork Description

In the grass next to the playground lies the ruthless track of a tank. The straight concrete line ends in a remarkably cheerful figure. A big pile of exuberant 'cake shapes' in all sorts of bright colours bears a head that has many faces. Depending on which angle you look at it, you can see a monkey, a clown's face and much more.
For this sculpture, artist duo LaSalle asked the neighbourhood's landscape architects about their divine experience. They thought of a person who moves right through everything without paying much attention to the surroundings. Hence the severe, linear tank track. As a counterpoint, LaSalle placed a figure at the end of the line that is actually bubbling with joy and associations. This is provided by the dozens of small portrait figures from eastern religions, trinkets, keys and pieces of nature that they have cast in the various cake shapes.
